An angel called Molly

One day my father went to Teruel to work there. His client had a kitten, but he didn’t like it, so he used to hit her. The poor kitten was small, and her eye was hurt. My dad decided to take her home to Alicante because the kitten was very friendly and meowed a lot.

Already in Alicante, the kitten stayed at my dad’s factory. Shortly after, my dad’s boss, who is actually my friend’s mother, took the little kitten home with her.

So now, my friend has not only a rabbit and three dogs, but also a lovely kitten. Her name is Molly and her eye has already improved. She is pretty good and the most important thing is that she is happier than ever

Gizmo, a survivor

On May 27, on my way to work, I saw a baby kitten with a beautiful red collar standing next to a garage gate. I thought it was so cute I couldn't help staring. However, as I came closer, I realised that there was no necklace. It was actually a trail of blood around the little one's neck. I was so distressed I needed to call my husband to help me. As I was about to miss the bus to school and he had the day off, he took charge of the bloody little thing and took him to the vet. We had to leave him there until the afternoon. I was suffering for the kitten as I didn't know if he will able to survive. Later that day, we went to the vet. The kitten was safe and sound and we took him home. We were  advised to keep him for three or four days. He was healing from a severe attack from another cat, apparently. But, oh, he was so cute! Really? Only for a few days? That was not negotiable. I had already decided to keep him from the very moment I saw the tiny dearie.

He was named Gizmo after the film Gremlins, and he stayed with us for good. We healed his wounds and gave him a happy home. He started to gain weight, but suffered from several colds and also had a hernia. Soon enough, he will go under surgery to be sterilised and cured from that hernia he has.

Gizmo is definitely a leader. He rules over Kitty and Rubius, ha ha, and he is the master of the house. At the moment, he is all energy. He runs, plays and even bites the other members of our animal family. We feel very blessed to have him.

Reina, a new friend

Reina is a chihuahua that belonged to an old woman who was ill and could not take care of her.

She told her family about it. A nephew of hers told the story to his friend. She asked him to show her a photo of the little dog. In the end, she decided to keep her. Now, Reina has a new home.

My dragon Mushu

Once I was spending the day at my friend’s house. We were at the pool when we suddenly saw my friend’s mum running to the cat they had there in the country. She was giving birth. My parents and myself were astonished and panicking, watching something like that for the first time. The cat had four kittens: two twins and two identical twins.

Three months later, we came back to the countryside and the four kittens nearly dying. It was so sad! My parents didn’t tell me anything but talked to my friend’s mum and decided to adopt one of them. So, this woman started to clear up the kitten of lies and little bugs. The little cat was grey with brown and black spots. I asked my parents why she was doing that, and then and there they told me that we were to adopt him.

Already at home, we introduced the kitten to my brother and sister. Sadly, a month later, news came of our little kitten’s twin’s death. We all thought that he could have been ours and not this one and be still alive. Nevertheless, we gather strength and named our little kitten ‘Mushu’. My sister chose it because it was given to her due to her great marks in high school. As she liked Mulan so much, she decided to name him after the dragon.

And now we have a ten-month happy cat at home!

Roscón

I am going to tell the story of my cat "ROSCÓN". We adopted him from an association called "Nodrizas de Alicante".

A girl found him and the kitten was with his two siblings: Cloeh and Max. When they gave us "Roscón", I was very happy and after all he has grown up living with his sister Cloeh.

Gatu and her large family

I live in a house with a little garden. Even though I have a cat indoors, Kitty, some cats come around practically every day. As I can't help it, I started feeding them. One of them caught my eye. It was a female cat and I started to call her Gatu. She seemed very unpredictable, but food did its best. She came closer and closer and I could finally touch her. Now, she follows me everywhere I go.

It has already been a year and a half, and this is the second time she has kittens. There are so cute you just have to love them! We take care of them and we teach them all we can so that a family can adopt them. When Gatu gave birth this second time, she had them inside a huge jar in the porch. It was incredible! My husband built them a shelter with a box, some blankets and rugs.

The first time was a success. She gave birth outside and, some weeks later, she carried them to our garden for protection. Amazing! Only one of her babies wasn't taken, so she stayed here in our garden with her mum. We feed her as well and see if she needs anything else.
So, we have two adult cats and three kittens outside, but sheltered, and a dog and a cat in the house. They all seem very happy and content!

Goya's life: A story of hope

During the pandemic, the percentage of abandoned pets had steadily increased. As a result many “owners” let their animals go homeless, without food or water. The story that I will tell describes one of thousand nameless testimonies.

On the 19th of May, when we were having a walk, we found a newborn abandoned kitten. She was scared and alone. The worst thing was that people ignored her without thinking about how tough this situation could be for an ill animal, so my mother and I rescued her and brought her home.

The kitten was almost dead; she was full of lice, dirt and worms. When we gave her food, she became crazy like she hadn’t eaten for weeks. Goya was near to pass away, but we never lost hope to see her recovery.

Days after, we went to the vet and they told us that she probably would lost both eyes due to a worm infection inside of it. We started to medicate our baby to save her eyes, but it was too late. Nevertheless, Goya took advantage of the situation and made big progress over time. Step by step, she turned into a beautiful blind cat whose abilities weren't as limited as we thought.

Nowadays, Goya loves to sunbathe, run across the countryside (near to us) and do drama about everything. She is the most valuable treasure for us despite her disability. We are the luckiest people to have such a blessing like her.

A happy rescue

It's been a while since a small group of teachers, all animal-friendly, noticed the presence of a beautiful cat in the surroundings of the school. When they were able to get closer to her, they realised she was pregnant. The teachers did all they could to take care of her and to keep her safe.

One day, however, they lost track of her. Really worried, they looked for the cat everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found. Suddenly, one morning they saw her again. She was no longer pregnant, but had two gorgeous kittens by her side. Even though the teachers could still take care of them there, there were  uneasy as the crowd and other matters could emerge from that situation.

So, 'the cat patrol' had to do something. The contacted some animal shelters and associations. Asoka El Grande and the person in charge, Pilar, came to the rescue. The following day, Nines, a volunteer there, came to take the mum and her kittens. Though at the beggining, she could take the two kittens, another three kittens surprisingly appeared inside the building structure. With a little cat food and a lot of patience, at four o'clock in the afternnoon, one of the teachers could finally take them out. Now, mother and kittens are safe and sound in the shelter, waiting for a family to open the door to their home. Thanks to the selfless labour of animal shelters and associations such as Asoka El Grande, these little animals can have a dignified and happy life.

Rubius

This is the story of my little dog, Rubius. He is such a dear! He was ill-treated by his former masters. He scarcely ate or had clear water to drink. He was locked in a big cage after his mum died after giving birth. He couldn't do any exercise or do his things out, so all his space was dirty and smelled terribly. He was even beaten, so he lived in constant fear of humans. It was very difficult for the shelter to convince his very old masters to give him up. In the end, they succeeded, so Rubius was taken to the vet's. His health was not so good. He was full of mites and he had to take several pills, as he was bleeding so much. He was vaccinated so he could heal properly. Last year, after dealing with the former masters and the shelter, Rubius was sent here. It took me two days to get him indoors. He didn't want to come in. He stayed outside in the garden. He was so scared! Poor thing! We took one step at a time and, finally, he gained confidence and got home. It also took me a couple of days to feed him, as he was also afraid of the little plate the food was in. I had to place the food in my hands so he would eat it. It was so sad! And the leash.... Oh, my!!! He was terrified!

Thankfully, now he enjoys walking, running and exercising. He is curious and happy. He has changed so much! We had to train him and he is still learning, but he is a happy little boy. We adore him!!!
